Green Scholarship Program

A scholarship program for poor indigenous youth was one of CGN's programs. CGN selected scholarship recipients from young people who wanted to attend a local public university and paid their tuition until graduation. This scholarship program was initiated in 2002 with foster parents from Japan.

CGN staff members held frequent meetings with the scholarship recipients to encourage them to continue their studies. CGN has also encouraged scholarship recipients to participate in CGN's environmental activities (e.g., tree planting) to help them gain knowledge about environmental conservation.

This scholarship program ran for 15 years until 2017. With the support of this scholarship, more than 100 indigenous youth have graduated from college and are working as teachers and other community leaders.
